‘Divide to rule’ is a known principle which has been used by
many rulers. The rule of foreigners on India
for centuries is an example of the effectiveness of this principle.
The principle, though very old, is being used by many employers,
governments & lending agencies even today.
These agencies do not let their subjects unite on any cost.
They work against the formation and growth of forums where aggrieved subjects
tend to unite. They try to knock down or calm down the most active members of such
forums.
Yet there are some progressive organizations which have
realized that this old fashioned thought of ‘ruling’ is not going to be
very effective in today’s information age. The governance is now also a
business like any other business and has to be performed as a job. If you have
given employment or lent your money to someone, you have offered your services
and it is a contract between two parties -an organization and an
individual. Both the parties have
to treat the other party with dignity and respect.
Most of the business is turning global now, thanks to the
advancements in technology. In fact, technology has emerged as one of the
binding forces in modern time. The new generation of technology savvy business
persons believes in sharing & connecting. In place of ‘divide to rule’, ‘Share
to integrate’ is now the mantra for success in modern business. This is a
welcome change in outlook or conducting business.
But since ages, under the influence of social, biological
& economic forces, we have divided ourselves into so many categories/groups
and societies that we have forgotten that we all are ‘one & same’ at core
level- the human being.
Is the integration and connection possible at our basic
level beyond the boundaries of country, religion or government? Is there a
silver line in the clouds?
